Referrals to Support & Recovery
The Supportive Recovery Program units are located at Bridges Supportive housing in a separate area of the building and have its own shared kitchen and common space. There are 4 units for people who are working with Northern Health practitioners and getting ready to go to treatment, have come back from treatment, or are working on individual goals with their practitioner and in need of a place of respite. This program allows for a 90 day stay in these units.
Homelessness Prevention Program
The Homeless Prevention Program is an initiative aimed at providing individuals in identified at-risk groups facing homelessness with portable rent supplements and support services to help them access rental housing in the private (non-subsidized) housing market. The rent supplements and support services help recipients access rental housing in the private (non-subsidized) housing market and community-based services.
The Homelessness Prevention Program operates with the Housing First philosophy that people are better able to move forward in their lives if their basic needs are first met; housing being a basic need and human right. There are no conditions, such as sobriety or psychiatric treatment, that need to be met prior to housing. HPP clients are provided with housing and then surrounded with supports based on their individual needs.
